Jehovah's Witnesses Are Believers But Know Not What They Teach

they cannot explain why they follow all the dictates of the organization.

I don't need to "think" all the thinking I need is done by the Faithful and Discreet Slave..as is written in the Bible.

I recall a story related to me by a dear elder who told of a 4 yr old girl who made a stand for the Truth among her family members. She had attended a family reunion of sorts with her parents. Even as a young one of 4 yr's she knew the Bible dictate to "not mix with those of that sort". Spending any time with those not in the Truth could lead to suffering and...death, even it was her extended family and relatives. "If they don't love our Grand Creator who has so lovingly given HIS SON so that we may attain life everlasting, then I don't love them" were her exact words.

Shortly after arriving at her relatives home she knew she had made a horrible mistake. One of her cousins came to her to ask if she'd like to play with some of her dolls. The young one responded "It is not proper to enjoy playing with inanimate objects. It is simply a waste of time. i spend my time in worship of my heavenly Father, both in service and in my personal study. Indeed, if I were to waste time playing with dolls how could I ever expect to enjoy the favor of the perfect god that I and my immediate family worship"? Indeed, I could not."

The great part of this story is that the youngling ended up starting a bible study with her cousin and it is the youngling's hope that it will lead to baptism. When the parents of the other girl came into the room where the girls were studying they were shocked to see the two young girls smiling and reading the Bible. The young witness girl addressed the other girls parents and said "Indeed, I have started a bible study with your daughter Samantha (not her real name). It is my hope that she might gain an accurate knowledge of Truth and progress soon to water baptism as I am headed toward. Our heavenly father is a wise and just creator. Indeed, I think He would approve of such an endeavor and would be to your daughter's rich benefit. Please allow your daughter to accept this invitation as it will undoubtedly lead to rich blessings for both you and your daughter". The parents of the girl broke down and cried and said "Indeed. it is a fine blessing that you and our daughter are going to study the Bible. might it be in her best interest if you utilize one of the many fine publications as provided by this Faithful and Discreet Slave Class I have heard mention of?". "Indeed", responded the 4 yr old witness, "and furthermore you too can enjoy rich blessings if you too were to avail yourselves of the life saving knowledge as dispensed by our Grand Creator through His Faithful and Discreet Slave". "Indeed" responded the father of the girl. "I will seek out one of Jehovahs Witnesses at my earliest convenience and ask if we too could engage in a study of the Bible via the publications of the Faithful and Discreet Slave Class".

At that very moment the witness girls parents walked in the room and said "Well, yopu won't have to look far. We would be more than happy than to study God's word the Bible with you through the publications as provided by the Faithful and Discreet Slave Class so that you too may gain an accurate knowledge of Truth and thusly lead you toward the goal of water baptism". Tears streamed down the faces of the girls parents and they embraced the parents of the witness girl and exclaimed "Thank you..thank you. Praise to be to Jah and His Faithful and Discreet Slave Class. Oh how Faithful...." "AND discreet" said the witness girls parents. They then all began laughing with joy and happiness.

Oh "faithful" oh how "discreet". I remember attending a get together at a brothers apartment. We sang witness karaoke after having snacks. My favorite was "Life without End At Last". I remember there was an interested one there. A young lady who was someones bible study. She seemed nervous to be there. When I took the mike and sang the song, I deliberately walked over to her and pointed at her as I sang the words 'you too can have a part....live for the day (then I pointed right at her and continued) "when....we'll say...life without end at last". I'm not sure if she liked that or not as her eyes were as wide as saucers and she looked fear stricken. I don't know why. I'm really not a bad singer...tee hee.

I guess i'm guilty of trying to impress the young interested one. She wasn't even baptized yet.

I had eaten so many tortilla chips with hot sauce that night that I couldn't hold it any longer and had to go # 2 in the bathroom. Let me tell you, it was a big old stink fest in there and of course just my bad fortune that the young study had to go right after I did. She was waiting by the door when I walked out. I said nervously..."you may wanna light a match in there...heehee". She gave me that saucer eyed fear stricken look again. I then said nervously "Of course you probably don't have any matches do you? I mean, you probably don't smoke do you? So...you probably wouldn't have any matches. Heeeheee". She said nothing and just looked at me weird.

I tried to half block her from going in there but she said "excuse me" and brushed by me. I followed her in and she said loudly "EXCUSE ME". I said "oh yes..of course. Lo siento senorita". I thought it would be cute to speak to her in spanish. Even though neither of us are spanish. I put my ear against the door and heard her say "Oh...gross". I then thought to myself.."did I forget to flush"?

I guess the answer is yes...since I heard the sound of the flushing right away.

When she opened the door my ear was still affixed to it and I came falling in to the bathroom. She looked at me with absolute horror and just walked away.

After the party I followed her home in my car. Trying to remain "discreet". She pulled into an apartment complex so I followed her in and she parked her car to walk to her apartment. I parked right behind her and got out walking behind her trying to get the courage to say something. Finally, right before she opened her dorr I blurted out "Hey there bible study girl". She screamed and I grabbed her and said "don't be scared. It's just me". She just shook herself away from me and went inside without saying a word. After about 30 minutes of me standing outside her door a security officer came up to me and threatened to call the police if I didn't leave. I said, "I know that girl inside". The officer said SHE was the one that called security and was very scared of me. I told the officer I would leave. Before I left I yelled out "See you at the hall sister".

I've never seen her again. Even her study conductor hasn't seen or heard from her anymore.

Some people aren't rightly disposed I guess.

I'm sure you will all be encouraged by this nice story related to me by a brother in my old congregation. 4 year old "Jana" (not her real name), is from a witness family in a middle sized city. She has faced many challenges in her pre-school class. One such challenge is the celebration of birthdays. One of the students in her class was a boy who had just turned a year older so the teacher planned a birthday celebration for the entire class. Young Jana's parents had informed the teacher that as Jehovah's Witnesses their daughter was not allowed to to take part in any of this celebration. Young Jana was sent to a seperate area of the classroom where she dutifully started reading "My Book Of Bible Stories" while the other children celebrated. Afterword the teacher called the parents in to tell them how impressed she was by Jana and her steadfast adherance to her beleifs. When Jana was asked by the teacher how she felt about not taking part in the celebration she responded "Indeed it is not always easy to remain seperate from the world, but through my bible training which started in infancy, I have learned the difference between right and wrong. Birthdays are clearly condemned in God's word the bible. Although I am just a youth, the lessons i've learned by my loyal attendance at christian meetings has given me the gift of sound reasoning. Indeed, my adherance to christian principles may seem strange to others, but I realize that what is important is that I follow the direction of my heavenly father and the direction he provides through his Faithful and Discreet Slave Class on all matters. While this world and its desires is fleeting, my mind is firmly set on spritual matters with a view of life everlasting always in view. I have already dedicated my life to doing God's will and trust those whom He trusts and hope to symbolize this dedication by water baptism at the earliest possible time."

My, what a fine example of a young one who puts spirtual matters first in her life, and a fine example for all of us.

An interesting article on scientific explanations of near-death / out-of-body experiences

i've been doing quite a bit of research into books recently, and i've noticed that the book "proof of heaven" is selling very strongly at the moment.

it's currently no.1 in the new york times bestseller list for nonfiction paperbacks.. the book is by a qualified neurosurgeon who converted to religious faith after going into a coma and having what he later described as an experience of heaven, which he elaborates on in great detail in the book.

he argues that the experience must have been supernatural, because his cerebral cortex was "offline" for the duration of his vision.. .

Sounds like a neurosurgeon relating his experience. "Crock of shit"? I don't know. Atheists get so angry that people dare to believe that an organizing intelligence exists, yet they think it makes perfect sense that everything just...."happened" due to an explosion of matter and there is no creative influence precipitating it.

Makes total sense.

Everything just "happened".

Sounds more stupid than anything any whacked out religious leader ever said.

A Popular Question Raised by people who were never JW.

i talk to a lot of people about the watchtower because it comes up in conversation all of the time.. money eventually becomes a topic as it is a very wealthy corporation.. so the question is always raised and it is a good one, "who controls it?".

people want to know "who has the power of the purse strings?

" and quite frankly so do i.. there is someone behind the scenes who knows so much that the wtbts could never fire him or her.

I'm not sure. It saddens me that people question the Society in any fashion.

I remember when John Denver was boooed off the stage of the Johnny Carson show.

He had made an insult about our Superlative Creator's people, and Johnny set him straight; oh my how he set him straight.

Johnny said, and I'm quoting here, "I'm sorry Mr. Denver, but i'm going to have to ask you to leave. You see, I have workers on my staff here at the studio, and at my home who are proud Jehovahs Witnesses, and I am proud to have these ones in my employ, for they conduct themselves in a morally exemplary manner. I resent you making statements of a derogatory nature in regard to these fine people.

Before taking your leave from my television program, I would ask that you take this fine book with you...and read it in its entirety". Johnny then handed the hateful Mr. Denver the "Truth that leads to Eternal life" book. He continued "Now.. GET OUT OF HERE THIS INSTANT".

One person from the audience clapped...then another..then another..until the enitre audience was clapping in unison as a bewildered John Denver looked around the studio in amazement...and shame. Johnny yelled once again "Now GIT!!!"

When Mr. Carson invited John Denver back the next year, he asked Mr. Denver to sing a song. Mr. Denver pulled out his guitar and started plucking the strings in an attempt to play "Thank God I'm a Country Boy", but the guitar refused to comply. The only chords that would come out was the beginning stanza of "Keep Your Eyes on the Prize". Frustrated, Mr. Denver threw the guitar down and ran..with tears in his eyes and sobbing uncontrollably, off the stage.

Again, the audience rose as one and cheered.

Although Mr. Carson never took the truth and got baptized, and will not be resurrected for his failure to do so, it was fun to see him give John Denver his just due.

What was life like for you as a JW teenager?

in the wt's illistrations they portray jw teenagers as happy, together group.

my experinace is that the jw teenagers in the cong were some of the bitchyist backstabbing arse holes i'll ever meet.. it was unheard of for us to engage in group "wholesome activity" as show in the wt's illistrations.

the competition amongst the girls for the handsome, sane and elders sons were cut throat.

Some of the best times I remember revolve around the joy I had when we'd get together with some of the friends to study the Watchtower. Joy is not a word that accurately conveys the experience.

I would study....oh how I would study EVERY SINGLE article in its entirety well beforehand so that i'd be prepared (tee hee).

We would spend at least an hour on the study, then afterword we would have a treat. I loved it when we'd have chocolate chip cookies...mmmmmmm.

I was a pioneer and I remember when non-pioneers would come to the study I wouldn't talk to them. I considered them to be persons who were not serving our Grand Creator "whole souled".

One time, i was in the kitchen getting a glass of soda pop (tee hee) and a newly interested one started asking me about my job and I told him "I work for the congregation". To which he replied "do you get paid"? I was offended by this question so i took my soda pop and thrw it straight in his face and grabbed him by the throat and said "don't breath a word of this to anyone you son of a b**ch". Then I pushed him on the ground and exclaimed "whoa, looks like Dan had a fall"(teehee).

I refused to associate with someone who hadn't devoted their life to our Superlative Creator. "Newly interested"? Phoooey! Just another loser who didn"t have the guts to make a stand for the truth in my book.

Good biblical quote. Maybe you could tell me why the society constantly criticizes the Catholic Church for its pedophile priests when the Watchtower Society themselves paid out millions of dollars in settlements to victims of abuse in THEIR OWN religion?

Also, why when other religions change their doctrine they are criticized by the watchtower, but when the watchtower does it it is "new light"?

The society has yet to extract their "rafters".

i was also counseled by a sister for eating lucky charms cereal.

yes, friends, this is another thread about the latest generation teaching.

so, if you're sick to death of it, leave now, save yourselves.... anyhoo... as the wts has now unleashed on the world the true explanation of generation and what it means for those of us in this time of the end, dubs who accept without question this teaching are 'oohing' and 'ahhing' as the new explanation 'makes so much sense now'.

I know some people have trouble with the thought that the four trumpet blasts in revelation refer to proclamations given by speakers at a series of conventions in the late 20's?

We just have to trust that it is true. It certainly adds more interest and relavance to our upcoming summer district conventions. We could literally be "witnessing" (pardon the pun..tee hee) monumental moments in mankinds history at the convention(s). What if even more prophecy is revealed at the conventions this summer? What if there are additional "trumpet blasts"? What if there are secondary trumpet blasts that coincide with the originals?

A trumpet blast makes a loud sound and the tone trails off and carries for some time. Could it carry for almost 80 years and the note still linger into the stadiums that hold our summer district conventions? Oh what a sweet tone it is. If you listen closely you can still hear it? Listen close...shhhhhh. Oh my! There it is. It sounds clear as crystal in the voices of the brothers giving the talks at the conventions. It's as if their voices carry that everlasting trumpet note. There is not a sweeter sound that exists. It's timeless, and that sweet, sweet, and sweeter still lingering note......

Do we dare miss the lingering notes of the trumpet blasts yet to come at this years convention(s)?
